Bassist Stanley Clarke was just out of college when he moved to New York and promptly electrified the city’s jazz scene. Luminaries from Art Blakey and Joe Henderson to Gil Evans and Stan Getz were quick to include him on their records. But it was his partnership with a budding young pianist-composer named Chick Corea that would give Clarke the foundation to become one of the genre’s great innovators.
